SquashPOS offers a high–end web–based point of sale solution for a low–end price and is the “TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award” winning POS system. If you already own POS hardware or prefer to buy the hardware separately, this is the solution for you.
With no startup fee and only $99 a month, SquashPOS is an inexpensive solution for your retail business. The only downside to this system is you’ll have to purchase your hardware separately; however, most POS hardware is compatible.

POS Hardware:
You can’t buy the hardware through SquashPOS; however, the SquashPOS software is compatible with almost all POS hardware—it would work great with the Dell GX620 POS.
POS Software:
This is one of the most efficient and user–friendly POS solutions. The tab system makes it easy to move from one area of the program to another and setup your preferences, make a sell or manage your inventory.
SquashPOS offers tons of practical features. It will track layaways, gift registries, certificates and backorders. The software will also record your customer’s personal information, history and credit limit.
This web–based POS solution provides valuable reports to help you make educated decisions pertaining to your business. You can create reports by date and various criteria. You can even save your report settings so they are accessible.
Functionality/Ease of Use:
The SquashPOS program is easy to use—a computer novice will have no problem setting up an account, creating an inventory, customer database and making sales.
A representative from SquashPOS will give you a helpful tour of the program over the phone. They will lead you through their website and explain each of the features.
SquashPOS is constantly updating and improving their system and all updates are free to subscribed users.
Price/Value:
If you already own POS hardware and just want to upgrade your software to an online version, this is a great option. They don’t require a setup fee, there are no contracts and at $99 a month, the price can’t be beat. There is a one–time $69 fee if you want customer accounts.
Training/Support:
You can contact SquashPOS support by email or phone. There is also a helpful online user guide. We would recommend taking a tour of the software before and after creating an account. The sales representatives are helpful and full of good information.
Summary:
Considering the inexpensive cost, SquashPOS is the #1 Internet–based POS system for someone who owns POS hardware, or doesn’t mind buying the hardware separately. The Gold and Silver solutions ranked higher only because they offer the POS hardware as well.
